Yun Liao

Yun's work both in design studio and in practice explores the idea of the urban landscape as a found condition and tries to compose speculative human narratives to play out within it. Yun is particularly drawn to the notion of ‘otherness’ in the city context, but also at the more domestic scale of the house, as embodied in particular objects or performed in situations. As a trained and practicing architect, she often finds herself working across the boundaries between art and architecture, borrowing and mixing up methodologies, attempting to redefine the way urban space is conceived and created. Born in China, Yun moved to the UK at the age of 12 and has lived there since. She received a B.Sc in Architecture from Bath University and a Diploma Degree from Architecture Associations School of Architecture. She now works and resides in London.
